ZAMBABEM • Saturday 30th May

Zambabem play Popular Brazilian Music (Música popular Brasileira) from their homeland, specialising in a style of music called ‘samba rock’ (a mixture of the traditional rhythm – ‘samba’ – and swing/rockabilly surf music) and ska! They also mix up other styles such as bossanova, funk and reggae in a typical band set up of electric and acoustic guitars, vocals, bass, drums, trombone and the sizzling Afro Brazilian percussion that drives the whole performance!

Sunshine Coasters will remember them from their crowd pumping sets at the 2014 and 2015 Ocean street World Music festivals!!!

In 2014 the group was invited to perform at Australia’s biggest multicultural festival – The National Multicultural festival in Canberra, where they also appeared on the compilation CD alongside other re-known World music and multicultural groups based in Australia; such as Labjacd, Madre Monte, Dereb the Ambasador and Los Chavos. They also supported Ozomatli (one of the world’s biggest multicultural bands) in their only QLD show right here at Solbar!
