- THE PERRIES + KHAN
Yamini weave a sound that helps you twist, intertwine and feel alright. Rising from Sunshine Coast soil, the band has come together like friends around a fire, and that fire is reggae music. With a uniquely Australian brand of reggae/roots, Yamini calls for healing, reconnection and an all in shakedown. This is Yamini, this is music harmony.
The Perries are a five piece band from the sunshine coast consisting of Drums, Guitar, Trumpet, Saxophone, Bass and Keys. “We are unsure of our genre, its a bit of a mix of reggae, ska, surf rock and indie rock. We really enjoy what we do and hope you do too”.
After working with previous groups, singer-songwriter Khan Harrison spent a number of years experimenting with his own material, looking for a fresh and more dynamic expression for his songs, taking his sound to the next level. Khan’s creative journey has taken him along a path that has allowed him to hone his boutique sound and artistic expression within his song writing style. Harrison’s musical style combines elements of a western-folky feel, infused with roots and raw tribal undertones that create an ideal backdrop for Khan’s fresh and distinctive vocals. He has never been one to shy away from the road less traveled. Choosing to use unique, original tunings has meant that he has often had to swing more then one guitar over his shoulder including his Baglama Saz, which often becomes the highlight of his live performances. The Khan Harrison sound is a conscious and original music experience that speaks to the heart whilst knowing how to move body and mind. This is true ‘soul’ music that reflects the multicultural 21st century western world.
