THE WOOHOO REVUE – Friday 9th August

A fiendishly talented sextet of horns, strings and drums, The Woohoo Revue have forged their reputation throughout Australia with their adrenalin-fuelled celebration fit for dancing, drinking and ignoring tomorrow. They shimmy the self-consciousness out of the most timid of folk, until disciples and naysayers alike blur into jigs, cavorts, whoops and hops – in one big mess of frivolity.

Described by The Age as, “Pandemonium in a pin-striped suit,” this “frenzied blur of Balkan, gypsy, swing and jazz … makes you dance by kicking your legs about haphazardly and spinning until you can feel your brain burning.” :

The Woohoo Revue have toured relentlessly during their five year existence, yet there remain some fine dance-floors across this wide brown land, long neglected by this boisterous band of balladeers. The upcoming ‘Pure Decadence’ tour is set to change that. Twill be a journey through all 6 states, 2 territories and The Red Centre, exploring some new ground and reinvigorating some familiar terrain. Fans will be delighted by the news that the band is toting a host of new material on the road for the first time, allowing a glimpse of The Woohoo Revue’s brand new album, due for release in early 2014.

“There is nothing mundane, conservative or everyday about this wildly attired and sonically arresting swinging sextet…something decidedly lusty and nocturnal about this band’s music that seems sure to unleash the sweetest and most reckless passions…something very ‘Johnny Depp’ about The Woohoo Revue: the glint in the eye; the swashbuckling irreverence; the wicked yet knowing smile; the zesty circus-tent glamour; and that rare and precious ability to be both irrevocably left-field and fabulously popular at the same time.” : Beat Magazine
