The wait for Melbourne five-piece The Paper Kites’ sophomore album twelvefour has finally come to an end!

Following the success of their highly anticipated debut album States, the band set out to explore new concepts for their forthcoming album. twelvefour, written entirely between midnight and four in the morning, explores the theory that an artist’s creative peak lays within these hours. Front man Sam Bentley forfeited two sleepless months in preparation for recording.

Filmmaker Matthew Cox followed the band across the world to document the entire creative and recording process of The Paper Kites’ second album. In a pursuit to accomplish a bigger and bolder sound, the band hooked up with Grammy-nominated producer Phil Ek (Father John Misty, Manchester Orchestra, Fleet Foxes, The Shins) to record twelvefour in Seattle earlier in the year.
