Thursday 13th September
With: Cale Fisher, Kayt Wallace + Pete Cullen
There’s been a lineup change to this month’s Songwriters Circle.
Pete Cullen will now be gracing the stage this Thursday evening alongside Cale & Kayt.
I met a guy called Dare Jennings, probably one of the most prolific Australian creative minds of the past 30 years. We went and saw Dr John at the Basement in Sydney. Then I sort of got an invite to his 60th Birthday party (I think I invited myself). The Rockwiz Orkestra were playing and after there gig I went and introduced myself… I was half tanked. We talked about Professor Longhair, Jimmy Smith, Johny Burnette , The Upsetters, …
After swapping some demo tapes we set a date to record an album. Old Skool, no clicks, no edits, we just went for it. Oh, and we had no practice.
I am totally stoked with the way Tom Whisky Blues turned out. I got to record some of my favorite songs including “Lily” for my daughter and “Blue Flowers” for my wife. It has been played on radio all over Australia on Triple J, ABC Radio National, RRR, PBS etc. I have returned to playing live and am really having heaps of fun. I also was nominated for two Queensland Music Awards, Best Blues n Roots Song and Best Regional Song. fb|petecullen
Electric Harp pouring out psychedelic melodies over stylin atmospheric grooves woven with soulful vocals, laying down a lushly funky, dark and sparkling, cinematic brew.
Usually fronting her band the Flumes, this will be Kayt’s 1st public solo performance. expect surprises. fb|theflumes
Cales fronts one of the Coast’s hardest working rock acts: The Floating Bridges. His appearance at Songwriters promises to be a world apart from the Bridges’ vibin live show, as he brings us a more pensive solo vision. Or perhaps not. fb|thefloatingbridges
