Is it a broomstick? Is it a lamppost? By God, it’s Skyscraper Stan! All ribs and fingers, after a brief run in with school and limited success with women he picked up a guitar and discovered the only thing he was any good at was writing songs.

“Call it Troubadour Rock ‘n’ Roll” Says Skyscraper Stan of the music he makes. At times gentle and soothing, at others, tough and grinding, it’s a heartfelt, lyrically driven expedition through the world as it appears to a six and a half foot walking skeleton who “sings like wet cement channeling Nick Cave” and ”dances like a drowning huntsman”. His band, the Commission Flats, is a dysfunctional family affair comprising his cousin, the beautiful Sharard sisters and possibly the hottest rhythm section in Melbourne today. The songs are what brought them together and the performance is what sets them apart.
