JAKARTA CRIERS • Friday 24th July

Brisbane bred Jakarta Criers have got a point to prove. In fact they have many. They want to prove that rock is not dead. They want to prove that it’s not about the bells and whistles. But most importantly, they want to prove that they can go the distance.

Having already supported some of Australia’s finest contemporary acts (British India, Kingswood, Spiderbait, Battleships, Stonefield, Ash Grunwald), as well as scoring spots at iconic festivals such as the Big Day Out, Valley Fiesta and the Caxton Street Seafood festival, Jakarta Criers have had a taste of the life, and they want more, a lot more.

The power of Jakarta Criers comes in their innate ability to harness the feeling of brooding melancholy and combine it with catchy hooks and powerful choruses. Led by James Walker (vocals/guitar) and backed by Seaton Fell-Smith (lead guitar), Will Rowles (Bass) and Wil Logan (Drums), Jakarta Criers naturally draw on the darkness of Paul Dempsey just as much as the balls out rock of Band of Skulls.

The boys have just finished recording their second batch of new tracks with the legendary Magoo (Regurgitator, Jungle Giants) as a follow up to the well received ‘Moonlife EP’. Set to unveil them to the masses in 2014, combined with extensive national touring, watch out for these four lads from Brisbane.
