ANNA SMYRK and the APPETITES – Thursday 4th July

Anna Smyrk and the Appetites’ eccentric-pop sound is nothing if not unique. The meticulously crafted lyrics draw from the great storytellers of the folk tradition, while the arrangements are layered with blues, jazz and pop flavours.

The band first received critical acclaim in 2009, winning the Queenscliff Music Festival Foot-in-the-Door competition. In the years to come, they began to sample more and more success, such as performing at the Port Fairy Folk Festival and participating in PUSH songs, where Anna received one-on-one songwriting mentorship from the likes of Jeff Lang and Abbie Dobson (Leonardo’s Bride).
